Melissa is a family nurse practitioner that joined SVHC in 2020. She received her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Southern Maine in 2009 continuing on to complete a master’s program at the University of South Alabama in 2019. Prior to her nursing studies, Melissa received a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and sociology from Northern Vermont University where she was very much engaged in social service. She was an Americorps volunteer in Washington D.C. in the national civilian community corps. She has over 20 years of diverse nursing experience with a strong background in geriatrics, mental health and acute care.
Her interests include using a holistic approach to wellness and health as well as a strong emphasis on preventive care and health promotion. She believes in partnership with her patients that is based on respect, trust and compassion honoring each individual’s needs and values. She is committed to the model of patient centered care. She looks forward to caring for the entire family helping them reach optimal health. She is excited to be part of a community healthcare home here at SVHC.
Apart from work, she enjoys cooking nutritious meals, gardening, hiking and exploring nature with her two amazing sons James and Jack.
