As Director of Allied Health Services, Marty coordinates the social needs of SVHC patients and clients, connecting them with services and programs they need outside the Health Center.
Family Planning Counselor
Family Planning Services are provided by Family Nurse Practitioner Gale Johnsen, Physician Assistant Kate Delewski, and family planning counselor Santana Eastman. Physical exams, birth control, pregnancy tests, treatment for common infections, and family planning counseling are offered in a confidential non-judgmental setting in collaboration with Tri-County Health Services.
Donna Burke, M.S.
Health Education Consultant
Donna Burke, a Community Health Educator at the Sacopee Valley Health Center since 1987, has extensive experience collaborating with local groups and organizations. She has been active in Healthy Maine Partnership initiatives since 1997 when the Health Center served as a pilot site for the program. Through the Health Center's Healthy Roots program and the Healthy Sacopee group, she continues to coordinate community programs focusing on physical activity and nutrition. She is a passionate advocate for "Plain Language" when providing written materials about health. Paying attention to health literacy can help people help themselves.
Barbara Smith is a Registered Dietitian specializing in diabetes care. She also sees patients with other nutrition concerns such as high cholesterol and weight gain or loss. Barbara receives referrals from medical providers for individual nutrition education and counseling. Nutrition counseling services are by appointment.
Alan Goldenhar, D.P.M.
Dr. Goldenhar practices at SVHC on the second Thursday of each month, providing a full range of outpatient podiatry services. He also has a private practice in Podiatry in North Conway, New Hampshire. A graduate of Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Goldenhar has been practicing at the Health Center since 1990.
Richard Steinmetz, D.P.M.
Dr. Steinmetz sees podiatry patients on the third Friday of each month, providing a full range of outpatient podiatry services. He also has a private podiatry practice in Westbrook, Maine. Dr. Steinmetz is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine. He has been practicing at the Health Center since 1983.
Dr. Bostic graduated from the University of Toronto in 2005 and from the State University of New York College of Optometry in 2009, where he was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. He completed internships in ocular disease, pediatrics and vision therapy at the University Optometric Center in New York City, and externships with the U.S. Indian Health Services in Lawton, Oklahoma and the Wenzhou Eye Hospital in Eastern China. After graduating, Dr. Bostic completed a year of specialty training as a resident in ocular disease at the New Hampshire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manchester. This residency included additional rotations in retina and glaucoma at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston and in cornea at Tallman Eye Associates in Lawrence, MA. Dr. Bostic is licensed with full glaucoma privileges. In addition to seeing patients at SVHC and at his Portland office, he travels to nursing homes and other residential care settings throughout Northern New England. Dr. Bostic lives in Portland and enjoys the area's diverse cultural and outdoor activities.

MaineCare Enrollment Assistance
The Health Center accepts Medicaid from both Maine and New Hampshire. Medicaid is called MaineCare in the State of Maine and is a health insurance program run by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). There have been many recent changes to eligibility rules and we can help you determine if you and your family members are eligible to receive coverage. We will also help you fill out the application and submit it to your local DHHS office.
Health Insurance Marketplace Application Assistance
The HealthCenter is a Certified Application Counselor Organization which means we have staff members trained to help people complete their applications and enroll in plans through the new health insurance marketplace. For more information please see the Health Insurance Marketplace tab.
